Mild to moderate cutaneous mastocytosis can be treated for a limited time with a very strong steroid cream (topical corticosteroids) for up to 6 weeks. Mastocytosis is a rare myeloproliferative disease characterized by excessive mast cell proliferation and tissue accumulation. Mast cell infiltration is limited to the skin in cutaneous mastocytosis (CM), whereas internal organs are involved in systemic mastocytosis (SM).
