As the first region to use e-wallets as the main method of payment for eCommerce, Asia-Pacific is significant. Digital wallets will continue to account for almost 70% of the value of eCommerce transactions. This is especially the case in China, where e-wallets were responsible for about 80% of the number of eCommerce transactions. 

 

As the changing model of capitalism may probably result in the termination of free complimentary supplies and services (like contactless payments from issuers to merchants), the drop in the exchange charge will also increase the burden on merchant acquirers. 

 

The growing competition, new rules, fluctuating interfacing rates, shifting PCIDSS prerequisites, increasingly sophisticated merchants, and a fast expanding collection of value-added offerings that generate additional sales present both opportunities and constraints for the merchant acquiring market.
